No matter what sparks your interest in music and singing, all ages and creeds are welcome in my studio. From aspiring professionals to the beginning amateur, any reason for singing is a good reason.
About
It is never too late to learn how to sing, and it is always worth it. Whether that be for personal reasons, or so that you can be a part of a community. Every reason to sing is valid. Want more confidence? Want to sing Karaoke every now and then? Want to be a part of a community or church choir but don’t know the basics of music? Do you have a job where you speak all day, losing your voice by the end of it? Do you simply want to breathe better, or understand how to read music?
Especially for kids, singing teaches them to be “in tune” with their body, since your body is your instrument. They learn how to express themselves and they learn discipline. No music talent is built only in lessons. It takes consistent time and energy at home to make it happen. Most practice is just you, in a room, with a piano and sheet music. This pushes you to learn how to motivate yourself, build good habits and stay persistent. Just like with a sport, dance, theater, art, etc. it takes time, but it is a wonderful journey to be a part of and one that allows for a path catered to you.
Why work with me?
My name is Eliandras "Ellie" Sims-Roberson. I have a bachelor's degree in vocal performance from Meredith College, have experience performing with the North Carolina Opera Chorus as well as church choirs. I did not start out singing from a young age, but it means that I understand the struggle that can be learning music without starting as a prodigy. Not only that, but I also have experience with singers who have asthma as well as singers with neurodiversities.
If you are someone who has always said you "can't sing", know that is not true. It takes more time and effort dependent on your background, but even someone who is "tone deaf" can absolutely learn.
